Jeans for Your FIT

Jeans are a basic staple for anyone’s wardrobe. That includes women, men and children. We are going to focus on the women right now. A pair of jeans is the most versatile piece of clothing. It allows you to dress up and down, showing off your personality a bit more.

Today there are so many washes, cuts, fits and styles, so the things you can do with your jeans are broad. But, there are some key points you need to know from here on out. You can apply these tips to your next shopping trip and stick with them!

Know your body type.
• Proportion and Balance are the goals.
• Mobility and Comfort ability are key. This includes cut and fit.

Note: Outside of knowing your body type, knowing your height and size are equally important.

Taller Women: you can wear just about any jean style; especially if you are lean. But if you are a little smaller than lean, you may need to stay away from flare jeans, because your proportion can look off.

Shorter Shorter: Straight leg jeans are the best for you. It will give off the illusion of you being taller. You do need to be cautious of flare-leg jeans. You should probably stay away altogether. As well as, a jean that cuts off your legs like Bermuda shorts, or cuffed jeans. Wear a darker wash to add that extra length for a slimmer look.

Body Shapes

Triangle: Your hips are rounded with a defined waist. This includes a round bottom with narrow shoulders and small bust.
Inverted Triangle: You have broad shoulders with a medium to full bust and regular size waist and narrow hips.
Rectangular: Shoulders and hips are equal in width, with a little waist.
Hourglass: You have balanced curves and straight shoulders, with a defined waist and curvy bottom.
Diamond: You have broad hips with narrow shoulders and waist.
Rounded: You have a round body with a full and shorter waist.

Great Tips:

1. All of your jeans should have a little stretch, i.e. spandex. This gives better fit as well as mobility and comfort ability.

2. Skinny jeans are good for almost anyone. If you are ultra curvy and shapely, opt for a straight-leg jean  instead. Your hips and thighs will definitely stand out and not necessarily in a negative way.

3. Please….wear your proper size! You may have to go up or down a size in certain jean styles. This is okay as long as all seam lines are flat and your shape is properly displayed. Ultra tight or Saggy jeans are a NO, NO.

4. Also, pay attention to your pockets, especially the ones on the back. Placement is everything. Try to stay away from over embellished back pockets if your bottom is full and rounded; a basic pocket is better for you. If your bottom is smaller, embellishments will help, giving the illusion of a fuller bottom. If you can see your front pockets imprint, then your jeans are too tight. A good trick you can do if the fit is right but the pockets still show, just cut the bottom fabric on the pocket.

5. Always aim for a classy look at all times! You can do this by playing up your shape. Remember it is all about proportion and balance!
