The Truth about One-Size-Fits-All

Okay ladies, what size is the true size of one-size-fits-all?

One-size-fits-all is a term used, in the apparel industry, describing a garment designed to fit most, average sized people. The sizes are small, medium and large, which are sizes 4/6-10/12.

Tops are the most common choice for one-size-fits-all. Other garments have too many measurements to keep in mind when considering the fit; like pants and skirts.  Also, there are some types of dresses, like maxi, tube and wrap dresses. Just be mindful of the fit of the sleeves.

Below are a few of the basic styles of tops that can work.

Tank Tops and Camisoles

 Peasant Tops

Tube Tops

 Baby Doll Tops

 Dresses

FYI: Tops (and dresses) that are loose and flowy, sometimes sleeveless, have empire waist, adjustable straps and stretchy material are better choices for one size. Also, built in cup sizes will alter the fit,so try and stay away from those styles.

Petite women or women with fuller figures are usually unable to wear onesize comfortably. It is best to get your specific size when shopping. Some women buy sizes too small or sometimes too big. In some cases this will throw off the one size due to not wearing the correct size initially.
  • When picking these tops or dresses, its best that the materials are rib knits, nylon/spandex blends, sheer or crepe fabrics, rayon blends, polyester blends and cotton blends.
Be sure to try the onesize on, no matter what, unless you like taking trips back and fourth to the store! If you happen to pick a top that is a tad bit too big, try piecing it with a belt (around your waist), layer it underneath with another shirt/top, or layer it with an over garment like a vest, shawl or cardigan. And if the top is too small, STOP…TAKE IT OFF!!!
Enjoy your next shopping trip!

Good or Bad?? Forever 21 is Launching Love 21 Maternity Collection

Forever 21 launched their new maternity line at the end of last month. Needless to say this is sparking a bit of controversy.

The collection can be purchased online and in 25 select stores nationwide. You would expect the line to be in the best retail markets, like New York metro area, Atlanta, Los Angeles area, and Chicago, but instead the line can be found in states like California, Texas, Utah, Alaska, and Arizona.  These are top states in teen pregnancy aged 15-19.

With all of the controversy over this maternity line, the retailer insist that the line is intended to provide sophisticated, trendy styles for expectant moms at affordable prices.
