Diane Von Furstenberg Has a New Perfume on the Way

Diane Von Furstenberg

The marvelous designer, Diane Von Furstenberg is coming back to the beauty side of the fashion industry! We say “coming back” because, in the 70’s, she had a beauty line and perfume line by the name of Tatianna. It was later sold to Beecham in the 80’s. Now Ms. Furstenberg is back for a new launch of women’s perfume under the company ID Beauty.

Diane Von Furstenberg and former president of YSL Beaute', Chantal Roos, have been working on this perfume for the past year and a half. Later they will be expanding into skin care and make up. Her perfume is set to launch this fall. We can’t wait for the end result!

Gap has a new Logo

Gap has revamped its logo after 20+ years! This was a very major, and drastic move for the retailer. The Logo made its debut on the retailer's website this week.  The plan was to quietly introduce the logo online and make a splash with the company's holiday advertising campaign. There has been lots of different reactions and opinions to the new logo.

The company decided to change up its iconic blue box with the classic GAP font. The new logo looks more modern, and in the Gal's opinion boring and very unsatisfying.  It's very important to some of Gap's customers that the brand remains the same. Lots of people associate the logo with the brand, and now that the logo has changed, it may effect the way customers feel about the retailer.

"We have been evolving the brand through the product and have carried this across with store experiences. The logo was the natural next step," says Gap spokesperson Olivia Doyne. "The logo was developed internally and we wanted to keep the heritage of the blue box, but bring Gap to the forefront."

What do you think about Gap's new logo?

Jeans for Your FIT

Jeans are a basic staple for anyone’s wardrobe. That includes women, men and children. We are going to focus on the women right now. A pair of jeans is the most versatile piece of clothing. It allows you to dress up and down, showing off your personality a bit more.

Today there are so many washes, cuts, fits and styles, so the things you can do with your jeans are broad. But, there are some key points you need to know from here on out. You can apply these tips to your next shopping trip and stick with them!

Know your body type.
• Proportion and Balance are the goals.
• Mobility and Comfort ability are key. This includes cut and fit.

Note: Outside of knowing your body type, knowing your height and size are equally important.

Taller Women: you can wear just about any jean style; especially if you are lean. But if you are a little smaller than lean, you may need to stay away from flare jeans, because your proportion can look off.

Shorter Shorter: Straight leg jeans are the best for you. It will give off the illusion of you being taller. You do need to be cautious of flare-leg jeans. You should probably stay away altogether. As well as, a jean that cuts off your legs like Bermuda shorts, or cuffed jeans. Wear a darker wash to add that extra length for a slimmer look.

Body Shapes

Triangle: Your hips are rounded with a defined waist. This includes a round bottom with narrow shoulders and small bust.
Inverted Triangle: You have broad shoulders with a medium to full bust and regular size waist and narrow hips.
Rectangular: Shoulders and hips are equal in width, with a little waist.
Hourglass: You have balanced curves and straight shoulders, with a defined waist and curvy bottom.
Diamond: You have broad hips with narrow shoulders and waist.
Rounded: You have a round body with a full and shorter waist.

Great Tips:

1. All of your jeans should have a little stretch, i.e. spandex. This gives better fit as well as mobility and comfort ability.

2. Skinny jeans are good for almost anyone. If you are ultra curvy and shapely, opt for a straight-leg jean  instead. Your hips and thighs will definitely stand out and not necessarily in a negative way.

3. Please….wear your proper size! You may have to go up or down a size in certain jean styles. This is okay as long as all seam lines are flat and your shape is properly displayed. Ultra tight or Saggy jeans are a NO, NO.

4. Also, pay attention to your pockets, especially the ones on the back. Placement is everything. Try to stay away from over embellished back pockets if your bottom is full and rounded; a basic pocket is better for you. If your bottom is smaller, embellishments will help, giving the illusion of a fuller bottom. If you can see your front pockets imprint, then your jeans are too tight. A good trick you can do if the fit is right but the pockets still show, just cut the bottom fabric on the pocket.

5. Always aim for a classy look at all times! You can do this by playing up your shape. Remember it is all about proportion and balance!

How to Accentuate Your Curves

Real Women Have Curves

Ladies, it’s okay to dress flirty and sexy, but there is also a way to do it. First, know your body shape. This blog post is specifically for our curvy gals!

The goal is to tastefully accentuate your curves. You should choose clothing that lightly hugs your body especially your waist and hips. Some women do not know how to accentuate their curves, so they wear baggy clothes. If this is you, STOP!!! Do not wear baggy clothes to cover your curves, this is one of the worst things you could do when dressing your figure…it’s like fashion suicide. But, what you can do is pair loose fitted pieces with fitted pieces. For Example:

  Jordan Sparks

V-neck and Scoop-neck tops are the best choices if you are top heavy. Just be tasteful. You can always put a camisole underneath if too much cleavage is showing. Any top that is not on your neck or too close to it, is good.

Wrap and Empire Waist dresses will definitely smoothe out your figure as well as bias cut  and A-line skirts. Make sure the skirts and dresses you’re picking fall right above your knees. If you have fuller legs and ankles, try to stay away from strappy heels. These styles of heels cut off your height to a degree and make your leg and ankles look fuller than they are.

Notice that the heels are strapless. This gives off the illusion of being taller and the dresses stopping at or above the knee helps.

Ladies, your jackets should be cinched in at the waist. NO box styles. It looks as if you are hiding your figure. You can hide it better with a cinched-in jacket. You can also do a swing coat to play up your style. Though not fitted, very stylish and it’s a better alternative to the box jacket.

Undergarments that will help the silhouette of your look, by smooting out the finish are Spanx. Go to http://www.spanx.com/ and see the variety of pieces that can help. Spanx has also created a lower priced line available at Target, called Assets.

Great jeans for the curvy gal!

PZI Jeans have all the different styles you need!

Check out the looks below for a guide!

Jennifer Lopez looks put together.

Very pretty. In this case, the straps are okay due to her long legs but the dress needs to be a tad shorter.

Beyonce looks flirty and sexy.

America Ferrera looking nice.

 Here are the Do Not's:

The dress needs to be shorter and then the shoes may work. Otherwise, her legs look cut off by both the shoes and dress.

Jennifer Hudson got this look all wrong.  The shirt and the pants ad more volume than needed.

Kelly Clarkson should have on a more fitted top, or the right undergarment to smooth everything out.

Queen Latifah almost pulled off this look. She should tuck the shirt in all the way; otherwise she is looking frumpy around the mid-section.

This look is not good all together.  She looks frumpy and both the belt and bag are questionable.

Alicia Keys almost has it.  The dress needs to be shorter and then the shoes will work. Here, her height is being shortened.

Use these do's and don'ts as guides and if you have question, contact The Gals!
